Visiting Vail during the summer months is a completely different experience from the usual ski vacation. A pro of going during the warmer seasons is avoiding the crowds. There´s still lots to do and let´s face it: Vail is beautiful any time of the year.
The town’s slogan is: Vail, Like nothing on earth, and I have to say that is absolutely right.
Let´s begin with the obvious, outdoor activities. You can go for a hike enjoying the beautiful scenery through those 25 miles of hiking trails. I would recommend choosing the Berrypicker Trail… you can thank me later.
If you are a bit more adventurous, mountain biking is top level in this gorgeous town. With more than 50 miles of freeride trails, you will have a great time on your bike.
If that´s not adventurous enough for you (it is for me thou), you may prefer rafting or tubing. It´s definitely not my thing but it honestly looks like tons of fun. There are three rivers to practice it with difficulty going from beginner to advanced. Perfect for everyone in the family.
Another activity that is not for me, would be fly fishing but apparently it has become quite popular in the area; I´ve seen quite a few people doing this, especially around Lionshead.
During summer you most likely will be able to enjoy a free concert at the Ford Amphitheater. Let me tell you, the atmosphere is wonderful!
For all my fellows foodies out there, I`ve got a few options for you. There´s a Farmer’s Market every Sunday morning from June to October.
And there are Food Tours around town. If you don´t feel like doing the tour and you are not sure where to go for either lunch or dinner I would recommend The Red Lion:
Loved the Red Lion Signature Burrito! Delicious!! The Vail Burger is another fave! (it has mushrooms, onions, bacon and swiss… yumm!) And of course the Quesadillas, you can never go wrong with quesadillas.
And if you are really going to break the diet… go for the best, the Avalanche Brownie but make sure you hit the gym the next morning!
Cinébistro at Solaris? Let´s see… Ordering cocktails and yummy desserts from a big leather chair while enjoying a nice movie? Oh yes! They even have a Burger Bar… #cinemagoals and OMG the loaded fries! To die for!!
There will be another post on Vail with lots more details. Hope you liked this one.
